Why Robotic Surgery?

Robotic spine surgery is a form of minimally invasive spine surgery. If you are experiencing chronic back pain that is unresponsive to non-surgical treatment, you may be a candidate for minimally invasive spine surgery in conjunction with a spinal surgery system. Robotics is intended to boost accuracy and reduce complication rates, according to a ResearchMoz analysis. With the technology, surgeons can pre-plan procedures and achieve reproducible outcomes.

A study presented at the Society of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery Annual Forum 2016 compared the surgical outcomes for 403 robotic-guided spine surgeries with 224 fluoroscopic-guided procedures and 78 freehand procedures.

Frequently Asked Questions

DME - Back Braces

Usually if the brace is medically necessary there is around 20 percent (medicare with no secondary). This is determined by your insurance carrier.

An EOB is an explanation of benefits. It gives the patient a line by line cost of everything that takes place during their office visit. This is not a bill. The amounts are determined by the insurance carrier. Our office bills the HCPC code and accept the amount your carrier offers because we are in network providers.

If you have received a bill you can call us or your insurance provider to ask questions.

The back brace works by relieving the pressure from the spinal column and its joints. Some of the back braces also have stabilization which can limit movements to either side to ensure no impingements cause the patient pain.

A brace can only be given every three to five years. You will want to make sure that you have not had a brace before you accept one. It is considered a soft good by the patients insurance carriers and if you take a brace home you are not allowed by your insurance company to bring it back to the office as a returned item. So please make sure you understand if you have had one or not.

Even though swimming will not ruin the brace, you can not swim in one because of the Velcro used to secure it. To wash, soak in warm water and hang to dry. Remember these braces are for medical use and not to be used as a lifesaving floatation device but that would be creative!
